Schmidt Bender's 1.1-4x20 PM Short-Dot model is a combination red dot sight and scope. Developed for use at short to medium distances, at low magnification the Short-Dot may be used like a red dot sight with the red target dot mirrored in the center of the reticle. Turned off, the illuminated dot vanishes completely leaving the user with a normal reticle. The illuminating unit offers a total of 11 illumination settings. During the 5 settings designed for use in daylight the red dot remains visible, even on snow or in bright sunlight. There are 3 illuminated settings for low lighting conditions, while another 3 three settings permit use with night-vision goggles in darkness. Locking elevation, windage and illumination controls prevent involuntary adjustment.
